Day 2: BEACH!
As predicted, today was a beach day. I headed over to Plage de la Datcha in the nearby town of le Gosier to finally see the Caribbean's teal waters and white sand in person. It did not disappoint! Here are a couple of my favorite photos:
As you can see doing research is very taxing. ;) Don't get too jealous-- the real work starts tomorrow! Nearby Pointe- a- Pitre houses many museums and other cultural sites that will serve as a jumping off point for my research. Since I'm also interested in expressions of a more local culture, I will be wandering in search of street art, cool shops, galleries, and other things that may not be proposed by the official office of tourism. I can't wait to see what I find!
